ENTERING THE CLASSROOM:

Low noise level. Be at your assigned computer doing warm-ups (journal entries) when bell rings. Check assignments for the day and go directly to work. Unless otherwise posted or presented.

LECTURES/PRESENTATIONS BY THE INSTRUCTOR:

Please abide by the following during lectures by the instructor:

  • Stay seated
  • No talking
  • Raise your hand to ask questions
  • Have paper and pencil on desk for note taking

INDIVIDUAL WORK TIME:

Low noise level. Work on assigned material. Check with your neighbor before asking teacher for help.

MAKING UP TESTS:

Testing make-up is Tuesday's at 6:30 a.m. and Wednesday's after school.

GROUP WORK:

Please abide by the following during group work:

  • Stay seated
  • Low noise level
  • Each person in the group works on assigned material
  • No free rides
  • Your grade is dependent on working together to produce a product! Individual accountability

QUIZ AND TEST TAKING:

QUIZZES MAY BE GIVEN WITHOUT NOTICE!

Some of my tests are open-note tests. Students will NOT be allowed to borrow notes, or return to lockers to get notes. Students should bring their notes/folders every day to class unless told (ahead of time) they will not be needed.
Stay seated.
No talking until everyone is finished and tests have been collected. Appropriate materials on desk, all else under desk. Have something to work on if you finish early.

ORAL PRESENTATIONS BY STUDENTS:

Please abide by the following during presentations by fellow peers:

  • Stay seated
  • No talking
  • Do not interrupt
  • Wait until speech/presentation is finished to ask questions
  • Paper and pencil on desk for notes, questions, evaluation, etc
  • Be respectful!

USE PROPER HEADING ON ALL ASSIGNMENTS:

FIRST and LAST NAME on all assignments, date, class period, assignment. Place assignments in correct folder (electronic, or hard copy)

EXITING CLASS AS AN INDIVIDUAL:

Check with me before class. I will sign your early dismissal at this time. Gather your supplies and leave quietly.

TARDY TO CLASS:

Place tardy slip or pass on Mrs. Pinkley's desk. If you do not have a pass it will automatically be recorded as an unexcused tardy. Please DO NOT INTERRUPT CLASS. Quietly take your seat.

ABSENT FROM CLASS:

Put absence slip on my desk. (If you do not have a pass it will automatically be recorded as an unexcused absence.) It is your responsibility to get make up work. You have the same number of days to finish work as you were absent. Check check the webpage for your assignments or check with other students to find out what the class did while you were gone. If you have questions or need clarification, talk to a classmate or talk to me. I am available before and after school if additional help is needed.

DISMISSAL:

Stay seated and working until the end of class. Do not line up at the door, or you will be held after class. The bell does not dismiss you, I Do!

RECOMMENDED SUPPLIES:

  1. 3 ring binder is suggested.
  2. Notebook paper.
  3. Spiral notebook.
  4. Colored braded folder.
  5. Black or blue ink pens.
  6. Red pen or pencil for editing and correcting.
  7. Highlighting pens.

SUBSTITUTES:

Please treat all substitute teachers with the same respect you give me and any other teachers/adults at KPHS.

TEXTBOOKS:

Take care of all reading materials and resources provided in class. Please cover your textbook. (Replacement cost of textbooks ranges between $45.00-$65 depending on texbook.) Students will be fined for damage to, or loss of books.

DESKS and EQUIPMENT:

Please do not write or draw on the desks, put your creative efforts on paper. (Students caught writing or drawing on the desks will be assigned to come in before or after school to clean ALL the desks in the classroom.) Leave the room cleaner than when you entered it, for the next class. Put any trash in the trash can when you leave. Reminder: Students are not allowed to bring food or drinks into the classroom.

ELECTRONIC DEVICES:

Cell phones, ipods, mp3 players, or any other electronic devices cannot be on, used, in sight, or heard during school hours. I will give only one warning, then the next time they will be confiscated and your parent/guardian only will be able to pick them up from the Humble ISD police department. This is a KPHS /HUMBLE ISD policy.

The purpose of these rules is to maintain a functional computing environment for all users. These rules apply to any computer system at KPHS or any schools within the Humble ISD.
  1. Users are not allowed to install any software on any machine.
  2. Users must not disclose password(s) to anyone.
  3. There is to be no food or drink at or near PCs.
  4. Users should log-out after using the machine. Failure to do so can result in someone else accessing your files. Users should ensure that files and applications are properly closed before logging-off.
  5. Users should not leave a machine unsupervised with a login active.
  6. Users should not attach any hardware devices to any machine.
  7. Users must keep the area around the machine as clutter-free as possible to prevent damage to the devices.
  8. Use of these facilities to gain unauthorized access to any other account, at this school or any other organization or individual is expressly prohibited and will be suject to disciplinary action.
  9. The facilities may only be used for lawful purposes. Transmission of any material in violation of any current regulation is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, copyrighted material (unless authorised by the copyright holder), threatening or obscene material, or material protected by trade secret.
  10. The following activities are prohibited:
    • Storing, posting or displaying obscene or offensive data in areas where one might view them passively of inadvertently.
    • Any activity which adversely affects the reputation or image of KPHS, Humble ISD or any individual..
    • Any activity that deliberately affects the function or integrity of these facilities.
    • Any usage which benefits any political organization.
    • Any commercial use unrelated to school business.
  11. Users are not allowed to open any machine or tamper with any computer equipment.
  12. Users are expected to operate the machine and use the facilities with due care so as to prevent injury or harm to oneself or others and also to prevent damage to the equipment.
Failure to comply with these rules can result in inconvenience to you or other students, damage to equipment, violations of warranties and/or violations of software licences.

Therefore, any user found violating these Rules would be subject to disciplinary action.
